The Workshop, the Secrets and the Machines of true Florentine Handmade Craftsmanship, the authentic Made in Italy
Our Artisan Workshop thrives on passion and love for Art and Craftsmanship, just as Florence did from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance.
Our Artisan Creations are all made using ancient methods, techniques, secrets, and machinery, just as they were in the past. Our grandparents and the traditions of Florence have taught us all the ancient knowledge that over time has made Tuscany famous all over the world.
Each object is cut with a fret saw, electric saw, lathe, or with manual gouges. The coloring is done with shellac, using the ancient methods of Tuscan restoration that give each piece the charm of antiquity.
The leather is entirely Tuscan cowhide, and each piece is cut and sewn by hand as it used to be. The external decorations are all made with an ancient fire press, a family heirloom, and the bronzes are all inspired by the ancient Florentine Renaissance.
We use only top-quality paper, strictly of Italian and Tuscan origin. Each has different weights and textures, and we carefully select it for each type of product. The machines used to work it are old, inherited from our grandparents, while new technologies are used with a taste and style reminiscent of the past.

All items are signed with the L'Arte de' Ciompi logo: branded for the boxes, hand-painted for the spinning tops, and stamped on the bottom for the other wooden products.
Each item is accompanied by theproduction certificate which guarantees its origin and artisanal workmanship.
All stages of processing are done by hand as in the past, so each object becomes unique in the world and there will never be another one like it. The graphic design studio, the planning and the manual creation are all produced in-house, and the suppliers of the materials are local.

Florentine Craft Workshop
The handcrafted product is the only kind of gift that can leave a mark and a memory of who you are. This page is entirely dedicated to ancient machinery, the secrets and methods of traditional Florentine craftsmanship and the old Tuscan restoration of the past. The Florentine workshops, the small artisan shops, the Tuscan art workshops are now famous all over the world for their charm. Dirty, messy, full of tools and instruments, both ancient and modern. Their smell of wax, leather, iron, and dyes could be distinguished from the street. And their beauty is rare and unique. Theaters of sweat, tears, happiness, laughter, and passion, silent but living witnesses of inventions and failures. In ours, antiquity and museum pieces continue to live to work every day. Our handcrafted objects and gifts are all unique, original, and impossible to find elsewhere, and are always appreciated by lovers of the past, art, and history. To recognize a true piece of authentic craftsmanship, the only way is to observe the quality of the material and the attention that has been paid to every detail of the workmanship: true Florentine, Tuscan, and Italian craftsmanship is cared for in every little detail. The original and true Hand Made object is always a luxury gift suitable to be appreciated even by those who already have everything and are not easily satisfied. See a selection to find a beautiful, important, and sought-after gift without necessarily being expensive.
The Artisans
There was, and still is today, a perfect way to recognize a true artisan: observe their hands. The hands of a genuine artisan are large, knobby, worn. Even the women artisans, although they have finer and more elegant hands, will always have that particular shape that only those who work with their hands have. In our workshop, which boasts one of the highest percentages of female workers among Italian workshops working with wood, paper, and leather, the women who work and manage the business are certainly no less. Anyone who says that hammers, drills, chisels, brushes, presses, and circular and band saws are men's stuff has never seen our workshop.
